We won't be broken

Hello!

It was great to see how you seemed to like my last post. I have more planned so hopefully you will like those too!

I felt I couldn't really blog about lighthearted things today and ignore the fact of the two abhorrent attacks in Manchester and London. As you know, I am a complete London girl. I love the town, atmosphere, places, theatre, and I am immensely proud to be a part of our capital. I've never visited Manchester but watching events unfold, then seeing the reactions to it, I have to say I am also immensely proud of Manchester. In fact I'm proud and inspired by ANY town or country that react with shock, horror, disgust, kindness, care, heroism, and a stubbornness not to be cowed by an act of threat or terrorism.

I am so sad that this is the state of our world, and I'm not going to lie I'm scared sometimes. For myself, my family, my friends, but I like the rest of the U.K. will not be cowed. Our spirit amazes me, we haven't been broken by these attacks, we have banded together and met hate with love. People who stood up for themselves, who risked their own lives, who worked to save others, those who offered their homes, food, tea, comfort, who made a difference in some way and who said 'we will carry on'. We live in a world of fear, but also incredible love and hope.
It's ok to be frightened, it's ok to be sad, but we won't be broken.

I wanted to say that on Thursday the UK are having a general election (just in case its subtlety has passed you by). We are so lucky to live in a country that allows us to have a say in our government. It is not a luxury that others always share and others before us have had to fight to get us this privilege. Please do not waste it. Whoever you vote for please vote. Your vote does make a difference. I've been baffled in the past by the different parties and really not known who to vote for in some cases but you can be informed and vote for whoever you think is the best of a bad bunch if necessary. JUST VOTE, it is so important that you do because these are the people who will run this country, make the big decisions and essentially lead us to good times or bad. Don't leave it to others to decide for you.

For all those affected by the attacks and everyone else my love, strength and support is with you. Be kind to each other xxxx
